Box Contents

Safety & Electrical Connections

  1. Always disconnect the electrical supply before handling, maintaining, repairing, or installing any pond equipment.
  2. Keep out of the reach of children.
  3. Always make sure you know the correct amps and voltage required before installing.
  4. Use a dedicated power outlet only. Sharing the outlet with other equipment may cause overheating and fire.
  5. Always connect to a Ground Fault Circuit (GFCI) to prevent electrical shock. Never submerge connecting power cable plug in water.
  6. Never let the pump run without water as this will damage the impeller, overheat, and possibly burn out the pump. This pump must stay submerged entirely when operating. Running the pump low on water will cause overheating, premature failure, and will void the warranty.
  7. Do not use this product in bathrooms or swimming pools. For use with fresh water only.
  8. Do not use in water over 95°F (35°C).
  9. All electrical work must be performed by a qualified technician. Always follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) or the Canadian Electrical Code as well as all local, state, and provincial codes. Code questions should be directed to your local electrical inspector. Failure to follow electrical codes and OSHA safety standards may result in personal injury or equipment damage. Failure to follow manufacturer’s installation instructions may result in electrical shock, fire hazard, personal injury or death, damaged equipment, provide unsatisfactory performance and may void manufacturer’s warranty.
  10. Do not carry or lift the pump by the power cord.
  11. Never use an extension cord or tamper with the power cord. The power cord should not become bent, twisted, abraded, or cut. A damaged cable may cause electric leakage, shock, or fire. The power cord cannot be replaced, and the unit should be replaced if the cord becomes damaged.
  12. Do not remove the pump housing during operation of the pump.

Assembly, General Installation, Operation

  1. Slide the fountain float down over the top of the pump until it sits securely.
  2. Secure the float by inserting the three thumb bolts into every other hole. Finger-tighten the bolts until the tops of the bolts are flush with the inner rim of the float. Do not over-tighten.
  3. Connect the light’s power cord to the transformer.
  4. Connect the mooring/anchor ropes to the float.
  5. Place the fountain in your pond, in a location with a consistent depth of 18″ or more. Secure with the mooring/anchor rope.
  6. Plug the pump and light cords into a GFCI outlet. (See Safety and Electrical Connections for important instructions about power connections.)
  7. Set the timer for the fountain and lights if desired (purchase separately).

Service & Maintenance

Disconnect all power supplies before inspection or service to avoid possible electrical shock.

  1. Regularly inspect and clean the pump housing to ensure that it is clear of debris or algae which can reduce the flow.
  2. Be sure the pump housing is closed and properly latched to prevent debris from entering the pump.
  3. Check the water level daily to ensure the pump remains fully submerged.
  4. If the pump is left in water but not operating regularly, test run it at least once a week.
  5. Once per season, the unit should be cleaned of any debris build-up or mineral deposits on the impeller assembly and housing. Areas with hard water may require more frequent cleaning. To access the impeller:
    • A. Remove the zip tie securing the bottom screen.
    • B. Gently twist the bottom screen from the pump.
    • C. Inspect the impeller and chamber.
    • D. Clean using water and a damp cloth or sponge.
    • A vinegar mixture may help remove hard deposits.
  6. If the impeller is damaged, replace it with a new impeller.
  7. Be sure the pump housing is closed and properly latched before returning to the pond. A zip tie is recommended to secure the unit.
  8. Cleaning the lenses on the lights will keep your nighttime display bright. Lights pop out and back into the float easily for cleaning, but they may be cleaned without removal.
  9. Winterization/Storage: When the pump is out of use for an extended time, wash and dry it, then store it indoors in a non-freezing location. It is essential to prevent any risk of the pump freezing.

  • Make sure electric connections are protected from all water and moisture. Protect plug and the power cable from heat, oil or sharp edges.

WARNING:

The power cable must be replaced by qualified personnel only.

Grounding: The plug of the power cable has a double grounding contact, so that grounding can be performed by simply inserting the plug.

Overload Protection: EasyPro pumps have a built in thermal protection switch. The pump stops if an overload condition occurs. The motor restarts automatically after it has cooled down.

Prior to Operation

Check the following points upon receipt of your pump:

  • Is the pump exactly what you ordered? Check nameplate.
  • Has any damage occurred during shipment?
  • Are any bolts or nuts loose?
  • Have all necessary accessories been supplied?
  • We recommend that you keep a spare pump on hand in case of emergencies. Keep this instruction manual in a place for future reference.

Installation

Limitations:

This series of pumps are suitable to pump water and also can be used both for permanent and temporary installation. The pump can be placed in a sump pit, then can pump dirty water containing suspended solid particles up to 1 /2″ diameter.

The Tempo filter is a heavy duty submersible filter that is great for water gardens up to 600 gallons total capacity. The filter provides mechanical and biological filtration.

Position your Tempo submersible filter in the deepest part of your pond, as far away from your waterfallas possible. We recommend using the Eco-Series universal waterfall diffuser or the Eco-Series waterfallspillways to help you create a beautiful, leak proof waterfall.

Installation Instructions for
Tempo Submersible Pond Filters

INSTALLING TEMPO FILTER

Place pump in bottom chamber of filter. We recommend EasyPro mag drive pumps up to 850 GPH.

1

Thread electrical cord through hole in base of filter. Always plug pumps into a GFI outlet.

2

Slide tubing through big hole in base of filter. Use 1 /2″ to 1″ tubing.

3

Insert the white inner media

4

Replace the black top pad.

5

Place filter in lowest part of pond, opposite the waterfall for best circulation.

6

CLEANING TEMPO FILTER

  1. Thoroughly rinse the top pad once a week or as needed depending on pond conditions.
  2. Unroll and clean the inner pad monthly. Size of pond, fish load and other factors will determine exactly how often you will need to clean the filter.

Replacement Pads Available: WF6TP – top pad, WF6BP – bottom inner pad

EasyPro products are designed to work independently or with sister products like our water treatment line. See our website easypropondproducts.com/water-treatments for more information.
